13 April Cases Being Allocated

Thread rating: |
George Lombard - 09 Mar 2005 00:49 GMT I understand that there were a couple of hundred applications lodged on 13 April last year, the last day before the points increase, and that they're all being allocated to case officers from today. Obviously a lot will now depend on case officers and "internal processes" but there should be a few more "got it" cries between now and the end of next month.
Cheers,
George Lombard

Are you expecting DIMIA to reach end of next month (Apr) to finally plough through all the April apps?

Thank's for the update.
We are 13th April, gosh i hope we hear something by the end of this month, i think i'll crack up if we've got to wait till the end of next month, it's 11 months at the weekend since we applied.

youcanlaugh - 09 Mar 2005 09:30 GMT > Hi George. > [quoted text clipped - 5 lines] > > Paula 11 months this weekend eh Paula? Not that you're counting eh? :) Sounds as bad as me. Hardly a day goes by without me working out when 50 weeks are up so I can start chasing them up.
We're April 13th as well, and I know exactly what you mean about not cracking up. So much is on hold, even little things like the washing machine breaking down on Saturday and working out if it is worth buying a new one or not as we want to be out of the UK by November. As it is, I got the toolbox out and repaired it myself, so I'm quite proud of that. I just hope I've revived it enough for it to last out until November!
Off to the emigration show on 19th March to see if there is any useful info there. Maybe that's why the pre-July apps are moving well now. They don't want any attending DIMIA folk to get lynched...

Eh well done on fixing your washing machine, we had to buy a new one last year it was a real pain.
We can't make our mind up or not about sandown, it's just a long way for us to go (from Cheshire) we haven't been before and i would like to go, is it any good??(if we haven't heard by then we will defo go so i can sream at DIMIA).
We phoned up last week and booked are medicals for the 18th March, really glad we did because they didn't have many appointment's left, we also put the house for sale Monday, we hope to leave about June if that's at all possible.
Gosh yesterday i nearly brock my neck i heard the postman pushing the mail through and i was upstairs cleaning, and i just had this funny he had my medical request letter so i flew down the stairs but no nothing.......again.....
When is 50 weeks up? will it be the end of March ? Cause i will be phoning them if we haven't heard by then....
Paula....

don't break you rneck we need it till the meds. Then later on its your choice.
As I see George has indicated that they are allocating the 13 april. I hope it also means that they have allocated all the applications before. We are 8th April :D
I think it would be safe for you to go for the meds as its almost there.
Don't sue the postman for your injuries :D

Even though i feel insane some days with the waiting.... Next friday when the Doc asks me how am i, i will lie and say that im fine thanks, when really im going insane with the waiting....... but i wont tell him that, just in case he thinks im mad, (i am anyway) but i want that visa....you've gotta laugh or you'd cry....Gosh i can't believe it's 11months this sunday.
Badri you must be next, two 8th April applications got med request yesterday

(sorry i said i was going mad.....) You don't have to lie . Just say you are stressed due to this mostly it comes to your advantage. The doctor will try his best to get you relaxed.
I know what you mean. Last whole week I kep waking up early in the morning 4.am thinking about australia and the process. I got so stressed I took some time off to get myself back N0t that I am fully back but I slowly trying to be normal. :) Don't tell the doctor that you are going in the direction of insanity :D He might start wondering why :D as well as the postman. I have passed the 11 month marker so hopefully something soon
I was also getting fed up of looking into BE every few minutes. ( i need to go to rehab to get out of this practice :D)
Cheers Badri

I think we will need a long stay at The Priory too to stop looking at this site! Lucky our meds+pcc request came yesterday as I was just about to go and ambush the postman and accuse him of not delivering on Saturdays any more!
We have just booked our meds for 17th March - didn't want to risk front loading cos we did a DIY application and were worried we might be throwing good money after bad.
Keep posting (as if you need any encouragement!!) - we like reading yours as you have the same application date as us.

I'm lucky with Sandown, as it is only 40 mins away. It makes the choice a lot easier. Sorry, I can't say if it is any good as I haven't been before. I only found out about it last year when it had finished as the Daily Mail did a piece on it and showed the half mile long queue (I've pre-booked my tickets in an attempt to avoid that queue). We'll also be getting the grand parents around to look after the kids, so we don't have them in tow as they really wouldn't enjoy it. I think a lot of the info there won't be much use to you or me as we are so far down the visa road already, but I think it will be useful to chat to the shipping agents and companies like that as the prices and services seem to vary so much. There are a few seminars that look useful as well.
Not sure if you've seen the site, but if not here is the link http://www.outboundpublishing.com/cgi- bin/search.cgi?location=000011000002&showitem=000001
Our problem isn't deciding on Sandown, but deciding on Sydney or Perth. Worlds apart I know. I think Perth is in the lead at the moment. At least we can discount anything North of Perth/Sydney as we're not great lovers of humidity. Heat isn't a problem. Perth does have the most sun out of all the cities over there... Watched 2 very good episodes of 'A place in the sun' recently that covered Sydney and Perth. More house for your dollar in Perth.
We got our medicals and Police checks done at the end of January. The prices varied a lot. We saved about ?150 by shopping around a bit. Also, as you say, the waiting lists can be quite long, although strangely we only had to wait a week to see the better priced doctor, whereas the other one was quoting 4 weeks. He said that he is seeing 2-3 families each afternoon at the moment.
I'm not sure if I will get a yellow envelope or not, having frontloaded the meds. I don't know if that means the first contact we will get is asking for the bond. I'd like to think that they will email that request, but hopefully I'll find out soon eh?

Your lucky Sandown's not far for you at all, i remember reading about the queue though, good luck hope you can get to the front.
We went to Perth last year on holiday we really liked Perth, but we've now decided to go to Brisbane instead , we just felt it's got a bit more to offer us, we said if the humidity is to much then we will go to Perth, but we're going to give brizzie a try first.
Yeh i bet the next contact you get from DIMIA will be for the bond,i can't help feeling though we've done the wrong thing putting the house for sale this week, we really thought we would hear something this month from DIMIA, we can't wait to go we would really like to go around June, we thought if we put the house on the market now by the time we sell it thing's could all tie in quite well, but it's all in DIMIA's hands how long we've got to wait.
Good luck,
The Postman's not even been to our house today so that's another day gone, can't believe it's 11months on Sunday and we've not heard a dicky bird yet....Poor Badri's past that and she's still waiting....let's hope next week we hear something.
Paula.. Going to Brisbane one day.........
badri - 10 Mar 2005 14:03 GMT > Hi Neil > [quoted text clipped - 23 lines] > Paula.. > Going to Brisbane one day......... Thanks Paula,

Scossie - 29 Mar 2005 16:49 GMT > Thanks Paula, > [quoted text clipped - 7 lines] > > Badri Some of you have been talking about phoning the ASPC after the 50 weeks are up to, "chase them up". I would seriously advise against it.
1. It won't do any good. 2. It'll just piss them off. 3. It'll slow things down even more.
Remember, the 50 week thing is only an estimate.
When we applied in July 2001, we were told that the wait would be around 11 months. We ended up waiting 18 months. There were no problems with our application. We just applied, and 18 months later, we got a letter saying that our visas were granted.
There's no way that'll happen now, cos believe it or not, DIMIA have got their act together a lot since we applied!
My mate is a 13th April SI 136 Non MODL applicant, so I'm checking this board every day as well.
I know, (God knows I know!), the waiting is a total pain! Don't phone them though. I guarantee they won't like it.
Best of luck to everyone... :)

Actually, it's pretty dated now and in need of an update, but it kept me amused writting the site a few years back. (ps. I prefer the 'make it smutty' link). I'll update it soon, the pages update once a day.
youcanlaugh - 10 Mar 2005 14:21 GMT > Hi Neil > [quoted text clipped - 23 lines] > Paula.. > Going to Brisbane one day......... Paula,
If it makes you feel any better, we put our house on the market about 4 weeks ago. Had plenty of people looking, but no offers yet. I'm with you in that I reckon a house will take at least 3 months to go through from offer to exchange , and so visas should be there by then. As the seller, it wouldn't cost much, if anything, to pull out before you exchanged contracts.
Personally, I think it's the right thing to do, but it's a very personal choice. I've seen plenty of people on here saying not to do it, but we are quite happy moving into rented for 6 months, and even if we didn't get the visas, we would still move anyway, so nothings lost.
