Ens - How Long?

Probably another stupid question from me !!
We have recently been granted our 457 visa, and intend to go to
Australia perhaps April/May time next year, if house sells.
We have since decided to apply for ENS, as this is obviously a permanent
visa and much better than the 457.
If we get turned down for the ENS, then at least we can go out on the
457.

We are just waiting for final confirmation from our employers as to
their sponsorship but just wanted to ask a few questions.

1.  I understand we are to complete all forms and send our application
off.  This we are doing through our agents.
2.  Are we to wait for the medical requests and police checks before
having them done.  I have read a bit about frontloading, which I
seem to think, is having them done before being requested, but you
   must have your case number.
3.  How long will it be for the application to hopefully be approved?

What I am trying to say is that I would prefer to have the medicals
etc., done in the UK, then as far as I can see we will have done
everything possible from this end regarding our application.  We can
then get off to Australia on our 457 and just wait the decision
about the ENS.

Do the ENS visas take absolutely ages to come through, ie within 6
months or so, or are they taking longer.
If we had the ENS to go out on, as opposed to using the 457 this would
be so much better.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Jill,
Can't comment on other questions but about front loading , when you will
file your main application and recieve an acknowledgment email. Just put
the reference number given in that email on your medical forms and go
ahead with your meds in UK. This most probably will save your 2-3 months
coz you will be granted visa as soon as a case officer is allocated to
you.

Thanks Nadir.
I take it that the acknowledgement email comes back straight away then.
There will probably be a waiting list for the medicals, so I will book
them as soon as we have the reference number.
How long does it take to be granted a case officer then?
Do you think there is any possibility, if successful, of the visa being
granted within 6 months of applying?
Any advice appreciated.

Jill,
There is a strong probability that you can get your visa grant within
six months if you front load your meds and pcc. As per today average
time for meds /pcc request is around 4 months after recieving the main
application. This is the same time when you are allocated a case
officer. So, if my calculation are right and correct me anyone if i am
wrong, you front load your meds 3 months after your main application and
in around 4-5 months your can get a visa grant. It all occured to me
after a bad personal experince . As you can see from my timeline i didnt
front load mine and am still waiting.

Thanks for that.
Plan now is
1.  Submit application
2.  Obtain reference number
3.  Wait for about 3 months, then go for your medical
4.  Send medical off straight away
5.  Hope for the visa to be granted shortly therafter.

It all sounds simple - if only.
Cheers
