My husband has just been offered a position in Sydney and we are going
via the sponsorship visa (457 business long stay). Am I right in
thinking that the company would apply on our behalf or do we need to
fill in a separate visa form as well? Could anyone who has been through
this process please advise me. Also, does anyone know what the likely
time scale is for a 457 visa.

Many thanks

Dear LG,

Company should be arranging an agent or doing it in-house, you'll no
doubt get full instructions.  Normally reasonably quick, a month or two.
For all the information you need for now, go to www.immi.gov.au and
search "forms and booklets" for booklet 11 and form 1066.  Most likely
you'll be invited to do the application online but the data you'll need
to provide is all in form 1066.

Cheers,

George Lombard
