Hi
My wife and I are moving to Melbourne on Thursday for 2 years (we think
- although everyone says we'll never come back!). We're both doctors and
are going out on sponsored business visas (457). My sister-in-law is
really tempted to come out as well, perhaps for a year on a working
holiday visa. Does anyone know anything about this please. She's 30 at
the moment and will be 31 in March. If she gets on to it now and was to
be issued with one, how long would it be valid for? Is it valid for a
year or for one year from date of issue?
Any advice gratefully received.
Many thanks
Matt

see what immi.gov.au says... this is taken from their website

The Working Holiday Program provides opportunities for people between 18
and 30 to holiday in Australia and to supplement their travel funds
through incidental employment.

The visa allows a stay of up to 12 months from the date of first entry
to Australia, regardless of whether or not you spend the whole time in
Australia.

You are allowed to do any kind of work of a temporary or casual nature,
and you can work with each employer for up to three months.

Hi Matt,
I'm a GP. Out here on a working holiday visa from Birmingham at the
moment but waiting for my permanent residency visa to arrive...

Anyway, my working holiday was easy enough to get online - the only
problem was a slight delay as I had to have medicals etc because of my
likely employment. If your SIL is not going to work in healthcare or
with children then prob won't need a medical in which case the visa is
granted by e mail within 24-48 hours.
Once granted, my visa gave me 12 months within which to enter Australia
and once I entered it allows me 12 months in Australia - multi entry.
But if I leave Australia I can't "credit" that time to my 12 months.

Hope that helps.

Where are you going to work?

Thanks Madhu
We'll be in Melbourne - I've got a job at the Royal Children's Hospital
and my wife has a job at the royal Women's...
