Seems I put this in the wrong forum before... thanks to happymum for
pointing me in the correct direction!!

I have read some of the posts on the forum and there seems like a lot of
people who have quite a lot of knowledge about migrating to OZ

My question is how do I start?? I have looked on several websites now
and it looks like am going down the sponsoring route as have family
already in Perth but am really stuck to how I just get going etc.. Any
help or just pointed in the right direction would be brilliant.

Thanks in advance.

I started off by ringing a few agents to see what they said and for them
to do a free assessment. The visa bureau were good for this as is
www.ianharrop.co.uk - we had worked with the visa bureau initially and
they got me onto the correct path...that was a few years ago. I was
underqualified at the time and they told me the exact visa I needed to
go with. Once you know your visa it will make your questions on the
forum a little easier to answer.

Family in Perth is a good start... however there are other
considerations such as your job, skills, quals - assurers. If you are
considering a 139 visa then beware as this changes to a temp visa the
1st of July, so you will need to be quick.

Good Luck on the start of the path Urban Carrot.

Ok the family sponsored visas are skilled visas so first thing is to get
your trade assessed. To be able to apply down a skilled visa pathway you
have to have an occupation on the SOL so check here
http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/1121i.pdf and also the MODL contains
a certain number of really wanted occupations so check here
http://www.immi.gov.au/migration/sk...doc/gn_modl.htm as well. It is
worth reading the skilled migration booklet
http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/1119.pdf. Finally if you are
really unsure, consult an agent – we used George Lombard
http://www.austimmigration.com.au

Best of luck!!!

You dont necessarily need to have a trade assessed - quals can be
assessed too in some circumstances

considered ????

I have work experience for a job which is listed on the SOL - nothing to
do with a trade though, I am classed as a business professional (nec)
and its my degree that was assessed through vetassess.

It depends on what your occupation is to the direction it will take for
assessment.
