Do we have to pay international student fee for our daughter (holder of
subclass 461)? She is currently at grade two (primary school).

This information is very usefull for us to decide between Australia
and Canada.

Thanks.

What state will you be living in?  Also, why not New Zealand?

Jeremy, we have applied for her citizenship. The process takes longer
than expected. Could you please tell me if she is entitled for domestic
fee if she live/study in NSW or ACT?

Thanks.

Start on this page for NSW:
http://www.schools.nsw.edu.au/international/tempvisaholder/

For ACT, start at http://www.act.gov.au

No fees are payable on a 461 visa but there is additional paperwork
required.  Additionally she may later on be restricted from enrolling in
some of the better NSW schools, and 461 holders may be liable to
overseas fees at tertiary level.

There is a risk her New Zealand citizenship may be refused because she
is no longer in the country.  Why on earth did you remove her from NZ
without her citizenship granted?

If you can't get her New Zealand citizenship (and even if you can),
have you looked to see if you yourself qualify for a permanent
Australian visa?

Jeremy,
Thanks again for your insights.  I will only apply the 461 for her if
her citizenship appl is being refused. It could be the case since one of
her parent is living overseas.

I have checked the links, the ACT rules are not very clear regarding
the 461. From your experience, is 461 not paying international fee in
ACT schools?

Are you still in New Zealand or have you moved?

I don't know.  Sorry.
