application will be going in very soon for 136. Skills assessment in the
post, and i have been advised my case should be straight forward.

how do you get police checks done? and how long are they valid for. I
was going to risk it and send mine off once they have acknowledged my
application.

was going to do similar thing but wait a little more time with
the medicals

You can just go into your local police station with your passport and
driving licence, I think some specify utility bill too, but we didn't
need it. You fill out the forms and pay £10 each and they send it off
for you. Alternatively you can down load the forms but still need to go
to the station cos they need to see your ID. They advise that it takes
40 days to come back, but ours were back in less than 2 weeks. They are
valid for 12 months. But your date of entry will be based on this or
date of meds, whichever is earliest, so be aware of this if you don't
want a short validation time.

I think it is taking around 6-8 weeks for acknowledgements to come
through at the mo, somebody else correct me if I'm wrong. I am a mid
June applicant and got CO and med req on 4th November, but there are
people still waiting for CO allocation who applied around same time.
Personally If you have only just sent it off, I would probably wait
until May/June time, buts it's personal choice.

You need to apply to the Force HQ in the area in which you last lived in
the UK. Most of the Forces have websites, many with the forms on them.
So if you came from bristol, you need the Avon and Somerset site, for
example, and look for information on getting a Data Protection check
done. Each Force has its own form, and its own ID requirements, so don't
be confused by reading posts about other Force areas. If you aren't sure
which one to go for, let me know where you last lived and I'll track it
down for you.

just found the forms on the avon and c website - thanks for that. in
section 2 it states, if i require info in addition to the pc and c

a person reporting an offense or incident
a witness
a victim

do i need to include these or do they just want to confirm that i have
not had any pros, conv or cautions???

Just the pros, conv or cautions bit - you can ignore the rest. :)
