Hi! i have just got back from my month in Oz and it was evrything
expected it to be and more! i absolutely love it there and it has mad
me so determined to go back asap! hoping to go back begining of nex
year, spoke to a migration agent when i was out there too which wa
helpful! so i am going out on a working visa and then seeing if i ca
find a job!! so exciting! i want to go now, really didnt want to com
home!

and my parents loved it too and asked about retiring there but its s
rediculous!!! they excpect you to just give the government $750,000!
and then have the same amount again in your bank and you can only bu
brand new property!! who would ever be able to do that??!! and even i
you were rich, why would you want to just give away that much money!!
obviously they dont want people to retire there! so they are no
thinking about 6 months there, six months in the UK! so glad they like
it though, makes me feel happier about it all!!

Mark, your baby looks so cute!! congratulations

Do you qualify for outright PR now? I would imagine the migration agent
that you spoke to must have advised you to go for PR now if you had
enough points.

I'll let Gill sort you out about the parent visa "facts" :-)

Thanks for posting your update Nicky, sounds like you had a good time
I remember our Rekkie February last year... We were so excited when w
were there and yet so gutted that we had to go back (You can read mor
about that here: http://www.gettingdownunder.com/2006/02/ :) )

As you've found, some sides of a move down under (especially for th
retirement visa) can be very expensive

I know, our inlaws came out here on a retirement visa, although the
were also sponsored by their son who has lived out here for 8 Years an
is an Aussie Citizen, so this may have made a difference with the amoun
they needed to lodg

I know they had to lock a large amount of cash away (I think it wa
something like £20k each) for 10 years but from memory they do ge
it back....eventually. I'll see what I can find out and will post bac

Also, thanks for the congrats....Exciting times ahead for all of us :
