HI,
I am a mechanical engineer having 11 years of experience and reached
Darwin, NT in the month of Feb'07 with 457 Visa. I would like to apply
for PR visa. Can you please advise me on the following points?

1. When I can apply for PR visa?
2. What is the procedure?
3. Is there any advantage for applying PR visa after gaining 6
months / 1 year experience in Northern territory?

1. It really depends on your specific circumstances, but I would say
it's quite possible you are eligible for a PR visa right now.

2. If you're aiming for a skilled permanent visa: firstly you need to
get a positive skills assessment, then apply to the Immigration
Department for a skilled visa.

3. Yes, but rules are changing on that count from 1/9/2007.
