Dear Paul,

If your occupation is on the list of "approved occupations for the
purpose of the temporary business visa", you may obtain sponsorship
from a company.
I have a copy of this list on my website if you wish to have a look.

Once sponsored and working in Australia, you may become eligible for
permanent residence within 2 - 3 years.

regards
Brendan

The problem with choosing an occupation on the lists is that by the tim
you are qualified it may have changed (the lists or the rules or both)
Nother problem is that simply graduating with a qualification is no
enough, you will need solid experience for a skillled independent visa
Is there no degree/qualification that fits in with you or your wife'
experience that would qualify?

If not, I would definitely recommend seeing an agent who can assess al
the possible visa options for you. IMO you don't need an agent if you
application is clear cut i.e. you know which visa and you have all yo
need and know how to do it. But in your case you would probably benefi
from their expertise

Hi Paulton,

You could try coming over as mature students, the visa application for
this takes only a cpl of months.  It is a temporary visa but if you do
2 yrs of study in a diploma course or quivalent, you can then apply
for a permanent visa.
There are costs involved tho, such as course fees and school fees for
the kids, but it does get you here quickly.
We have done this with 3 kids, I finished my diploma in May and we
applied for our 880 visa 3 weeks ago.
Choosing a course which will give you  modl status will increase your
chances.
Remember tho the age limit of 45 still applies and only 1 of you needs
to study.
You can also apply when you get here for work rights of 20 hours a
week each.

Good luck!

Natalie
