Hi,
In July 2008, I would be joining the Adelaide University as an
International Student. Also, in June I will have four years experience
in my relevant field which makes me eligible for 'Skilled -
Independent (Migrant) visa (subclass 175)' Is it possible that I can
apply for this visa while I am in Australia? as I need to leave by
15th July and I doubt that I will get my assessment back by that time.
Regards,
Omer

You can apply from Australia, but once granted a visa you would have to
leave Australia in order to be granted a visa.

Omer,
Do you already have a basic qualification that for your proposed
nominated occupation? This is the key question that you need to answer,
besides the other points and threshold requirements.

Hi Peter,
Yes, I do have a four year BS-Computer science degree.
Thanks,

Hi Omer,
I don't understand why you're wasting the money on a student visa if
you're going to be eligible for PR anyway - I would certainly suggest
you use an agent to confirm the points that you will have, including
any MODL points, when the four years of work experience has been
completed, but if the points and your IELTS test are all positive then
it might be better to not take a student visa at all. Just a thought.

Hi George,
Maybe the OP wants to get to Australia faster to catch our summer?
