suzysu - 20 Sep 2004 18:01 GMT Hi.
I've been put down as a Cat B on the medical (de facto spouse visa).
Has anyone else been put down as a Cat B and how long did it take you to get your visa?
I had a letter 6.9.04 advising that they were referring the medical to the Health Assessment Services, but havent heard from them since.
I really, really want to know now. Missing my partner so much and want to get my flight booked.
Thanks,
Su

I am a Cat B and I have read that it will probably add an extra 2 weeks to the processing time
Hope this helps. I have had my meds done unrequested so haven't got to the stage of sending them off yet.

The doctor said that i would be going as a cat b and then i had a letter from the DIMIA advising that my medical had been referred to the Health Assessment Services.
I'm not very good at waiting and just want to know now so i can get my flight booked and be with my partner again (havent seen him in 3 months).

Started looking for earlier thread to ask you if you had heard, and came across this one.
So no news then?! How frustrating is it? I think that I will mail them, but I dont want to irritate them!
My time is runing out now. Jim wont start to think about going home on his own. He seems to think that it will still come through in time, but we are suposed to be leaving on October 10th. His visa runs out on the 14th. I really am begining to panic now. Not so much that I might not get the visa, but the fact that there is now a huge possibility that we are going to be seperated for the first time ever since we met nearly three years ago. Now that makes me feel bitter about this whole visa process.
Im more angry at myself as we were told we couldnt apply for a defacto visa and that it would have to be a fiance visa. But when I looked into it again a couple of months ago and with more information from guys on here, especially mlbonner, we decided to go for a defacto visa. We have had the visa application and the evidence ready for months and so we could have applied for this ages ago and therefore could have allowed this waiting then, but not now.
Still, nothing more we can do except wait and wait and wait! I hope we dont have to wait too long though. My letter was dated 3rd Sept but I didnt recieve it until 8th Sept.
Liz.

I've been away from my partner (ronnie) for 3 months now. He went to Sydney in June to find a job before we could apply for the de-facto. I'm missing him so much and phone bills are sky high at the moment.
Once i know about the visa, i still have to give a months notice to work, so thats another month before i will see him.
I'm sure it will all be worth the wait though.
cant your boyfriend apply for a bridging visa here until you know about your visa? have you looked into it?
where are you planning on living in Australia? Ronnie is looking for an appartment in Meadowbank, Sydney at the moment.

We want to be up in Queensland though, but are unsure yet where to head. If I had my way, it would be near the Whitsundays but work is very limited. We arent really going to do anything about it until Feb next year as we are coming back in Jan for the birth of my sisters first baby.
I did look into a bridging visa for Jim, but it seems far too much hassle and more money. Also, his mum has organised a huge party for us on 14th. Jim is turning 30 and the whole family are coming all over Oz for it and to meet me, so he should really be there for that.
I dont know how you have survived 3 months without your partner. Could you not give work your notice now? It may come through whilst you are working your notice? If it doesnt then are you able to support yourself until it does? I was quite lucky. My work place announced redundancy for when I was thinking about leaving, so I finish work next monday having been given early release with my redundancy money!

I'm in the process of selling my house aswell, so waiting for a completion date. Cant really give up work until the house is gone, as i still need to be paying the mortgage at the moment.
Its ronnies 30th in nov and mine, so really hoping i will be in Sydney for both of our birthdays.
have you emailed DIMIA now?

I think I may just bite the bullet and send it, but I dont want them to feel that I am being pushy. I suppose and the end of the day, it would take them just a couple of minutes to read it and then erase it?! If they dont want to respond then they wont?!

Donut - 21 Sep 2004 09:53 GMT > Thanks for that. Springo, we are hoping to go to Perth next June/July > time maybe meet you there? My Fiance got put down as cat B for his Asthma, but his is very well under control and he hardly even uses his medication! We'll be applying for the Propsective Marriage Visa as soon as his Police check comes back. Apparrently the meds have to go off to Australia, which would delay the application by about 2 weeks. Bu I think it depends on what type of medication you're on. I'll add our applicatoin to the timeline when we submit it. Keep us posted on yours and best of luck....
