- Applied for PR - May 2004 [still under process]
- Working in Canada on a employer sponsored work permit since - July
2005 [intra company transfer - no HRDC confirmation was required]
Its confirmed by my employer that I can keep renewing my work permit
until I get my PR. I would like to know if it is possible to change my
work permit status or obtain additional permit which will allow me to
conduct my own business. By own business I mean either being a self
employed and setting up a legal entity OR act as an agent of a foriegn
company. My employment contract does not restrict me to work
exclusively for my employer.
I would like to continue working for my current employer and also like
to act as agent for a foriegn company [which will not take considerable
time of my working hours]. Please advice if I can act as an agent on
my current employment work permit? If not, is there a special work
permit arrangement in order to enable me to do so?
Would appreciate a prompt response.
Thanks

Not really your work permit restricts you to the employer. There is no
provision for issuing a secondary work permit as self employed.
