Hi

This is Sunil from Ahmedabad, India.

I am into Web/Graphic Designing since last 6.7 years.
I was just wondering about better job opportunities overseas.

What should I start first, Job Search or Visa Applications....?

Can anyone tell me how can i start the visa application on my own..?
I have doubts regarding immigration consultants reliability. OR

If anyone has name and addresses (emails) of reliable immi consult
please let me know.

Thanx & Reg

Hi Sunil,

If you are the only one immigrating, go to the Skiller Worker Class
page of the Canada Immigration site at:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/skilled/index.html

http://www.cic.gc/ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/EG7.pdf

Then go to this site and take the self-assessment test to see if you
qualify:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/skilled/assess/index.html

That should get you started. Good Luck! :)

Definitely research the visa application first, if you qualify with
plenty of points you should be able to research and compile the
application on your own. If you are unsure then use a consultant. Make
sure they are members of the CSIC (Canadian Society of Immigration
Consultants) and most offer a free assessment first. Don't commit to
any payments until you are happy with the consultant of choice and
their fee's. Some may even offer a no visa no fee agreement depending
upon your circumstances.

I emigrated in 2003 and have an information site which will help.

Good Luck

You can check this web site (likely you have already) as all the
guidelines and pdf fillabe forms are available.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/

I am a Canadian now immigrating my wife of 17 years and the amount of
forms and support documents is a bit overwhelming so I have engaged a
lawyer to assist, but please look at all the guidelines first and
give it a go.

I am told that once you submit the forms to Canada Immigration it can
take 2 to 3 months for them to check that you have filled all correctly
and correct support documents. Then they send the application to
Canadian Embassy at your country. And it could take another 8 months or
so. And one thing that seems important as far as timing is concerned is
you medical check as it is only valid for 12 months so that is about the
last thing you want to do.

Good Luck
