Thank you for creating such a useful resource for immigration matters.

I am in USA and my canadian wife sponsored me for canadian immigration
I have stamped immigrant visa on my passport with expiry date on feb,1
2006.
My wife is expecting baby in next few days. My question is:

1: I will inform the buffalo's office with my baby's birth, But m
immigrant visa will be expiring in next 2 weeks. will I be required t
initiate the whole process from begining or be asked to have ne
medical exam and submit updated application.

Thank yo

Your wife is a Canadian citizen right?  Then the baby is also a Canadian
citizen as well as a US citizen.  You don't have to do anything, but you
should register the child as a CC.

Thank you for your reply. Yes my wife is canadian and my child will b
canadian citizen by birth. immigration papers mentioned I have t
inform the Buffalo office in case of child birth or other change i
family information. Other wise I will be denied entry into Canada. No
I have 2 weeks left on my immigrant visa(Medicals will expire) an
registering the baby will take at least couple of months. This is
sticky situation and I am unsure where it will lead to. Applying th
full application from begining is a nightmare.
I Will appreciate your further input.

yes but that is for people that immigrate as a family.
since your wife is canadian, giving birth to her child, it has nothing to do
with your application. I mean, she could be giving birth to someone else's
child and still sponsor you and it wouldh ave nothing to do with your
application.

this applies to people that immigrate together as a family. if the child is
born before entering canada, their situation changes. they are now bringing
into canada an extra person that was not included in the application, has no
visa etc.
not your case.

After the baby birh, just take baby's birth certificate ( you can get
that from city office in few days) to Canadian consulate for
registration, if it is taking long, then forget that and bring baby
with you, with baby's birth certificate at POE and do the rest of paper
work here. Nothing to worry about your case.
