Work permit

My process for a workpermit is getting a little more complicated then I
expected...

In 2004 I applied for PR under spousal class.  Me and my - then -
common law boyfriend applied in december.  At the time my visitor
status has almost run out as well so I immediatly applied for extension
as well.  Both were sent to the Vegreville office.  When I hadn't
received my extension after 1 - 1.5 months I contacted the
1-888-242-2100 number and asked for information.  There they responded
they had not received it, and if I could prove it with a trackingnumber
and proof of payment.

I supplied them with both.  It then turned out I should have sent my
application for extension to Mississauga and NOT Vegreville.  They
forwarded the application to the appropriate office, although it would
arrive there late.  Mississauga contacted me regarding the visa and
explained I was too late, I could still apply for a restoration BUT
they had made recent changes (february 18) that people applying under
spousal class no longer need to mantain a legal status.

Now, as my relationship with my 'sponsor' was not going well at the
time I decided to travel to the states, say goodbye to some of my
friends and accept a joboffer in my home country in Europe.

Now my problem is: It appears my application for permanent residence is
still in process and I do not have the possibility to cancel it - how
can I do this?  Plus: I was denied an extension for my visitor visa -
as it was late and at the wrong office in december 2004.

Meanwhile I had a job offer in Canada again, which has been approved by
HRDSC.  Would applying for this workpermit be possible as I still have
the PR application running with a visitor status that was denied once?

I have entered Canada 3 times since - for a short period - but am
worried, these things never tend to just "work"...  Any help is greatly
appreciated!

Perhaps you got no reply because your post is not clear and in some ways
inaccurate.  Applications for extenions of stay are sent to Vegreville as
are any other temporary residence applications for persons in Canada.  If
you wish to withdraw your PR application then do so by writing to the visa
office processing it (presumably Buffalo).  You can apply for a new WP
overseas once you have the labour market opinion from HRSDC.

Although my previous 3 extensions were processed in Vegreville, the
last one was forwarded to Mississauga for some reason.  I have tried to
withdraw it in writing - 5 months ago - and it still shows up as "in
process" on e-cas.

As to the WP: it is already approved by HRSDC, I'm only worried this
running PR application and a refused extension will permit me from
getting the WP
