Hi,
We are planning to land in Canada in 2 weeks from New York (by train) to
Niagara Falls ON.
We shall be in Canada only 3/4 days. I understand that I have to give a
address in Canada so
PR card can be sent there.  My such address will be at Toronto.
Can I apply for SIN card, Bank A/C there in Niagara falls though my address
will be in Toronto?

Thansk for information.

Please share your experience. You are the first person I know
try to land by train.

AFAIK you can apply for SIN (and the card) in any HRSDC office,
so Niagara Falls should be fine.

Bank is depend on the bank manager you talk to. I believe you
may face some difficulties opening account in the place you
don't live, and without SIN. Keep in mind that in major banks in
Canada your account will be tied to the branch you open it.
There will be some operation you can only do in the particular
branch you open. Yes, Canadian banks is backward compare to US
banks.
