Dear All,

I have realized that you are well acquainted with the Candian
Immigration System. I have recently recieved my Landed Immigrant Visa,
and intend on going to Canada within a months time. Currently I am
living in a different country, and do not intend on moving immediately
back to Canada, but I want to ensure that I recieve my PR. So pls help
me with the following issues:

1) How long after my date of arrival will I be able to Leave with my
PR, and all relevant documentation completed?

2) Will I be eligible for a refund? where do I apply?

3) I applied based on a Provincial Nominee(Manitoba), Do I have to
arrive there? Does my address have to be Manitoban? Will I be a
Manitoba Resident?

4) After How many years as a PR can i start an application process for
citizenship? Do these years have to be consecutive?

5) I lived in Manitoba for 7 years prior to applying for my
immigration, the application process took over 3 years to finalize. How
many of the years that I spent in Canada, will be counted towards my
Citizenship application.

Sorry for all the questions, and thank you in advance for all your
help,

Sincerely,

Alaa

What did you mean by "all relevant documentation completed"?
Depend on your definition, the answer will be different.

You can leave Canada with your PR right away (in the same day),
but you either must give a Canada address (that you trust) to
receive PR Card, or make sure you can enter Canada without PR
Card later, or willing to go through the effort and cost of
applying travel document later.

> 2) Will I be eligible for a refund? where do I apply?

Yes. You can ask about it at landing.

I think it is save to say that you are expected to show effort
to settle down in Manitoba. Not sure how much power Manitoba
government have in this case nor how likely they will use it,
but it is possible that they can revoke the nomination and cause
the PR revoked as well. But again, I am not sure.

You need 3 years living in Canada in the 4 years preceding the
citizenship application. The living years don't have to be
continuous, but all of them need to be not longer than 4 years
before submitting the citizenship application.

All the days you want to count toward citizenship need to be in
those 4 years period preceding the citizenship application. The
days before PR is counted as half: each 2 days as non PR living
in Canada counted as 1 day for the citizenship application.

Sorry, cannot give exact answer without exact dates of the time
you live in Canada.
