Hi everyone,

Well I'm new here, my name is Casey and I'd really like some help.

I'm sixteen and I live in Northern Ireland. I've just finished my GCSE
and this is an important time for me, my whole future could depend o
some choices I make in the next few months.

I would like to take a year out of education next year, I'm just no
ready to take any higher education yet. It's not because I'm lazy, bu
I do not want to waste two years of my life doing a course that wil
have no benefit to me at all, as here in the UK I find all the subject
too general. I've been going out with my girlfriend for a very long tim
and we are very much in love, but at the end of this month she i
emigrating to Canada. I would regret it for the rest of my life if
didn't do everything I can to be with her. We've talked about this
lot and she told me that subjects over there are far more specific, an
many of them interest me. I have decided that in the long run, I wil
almost definately get a student visa to study there and be with her
but that is for the year after next. It is next year that I need som
help with.

I think the best thing to do is to take a year out, and I want to spen
around 6 months to a year out there. Both of our parents are involve
and are behind us, her mum and dad would provide for me. I don't wan
to sit around doing nothing over there, so I think it would b
brilliant to work there to gain experience. I'd like to work in a jo
involving animals as the next year I would like to study possibl
zoology or marine biology over there.

Could anyone give me any suggestions on how I would go about doin
this?? I'm confused as to whether it is even possible, as I am only 1
and I dont know what sort of qualifications I need to do this, as
only have my GCSEs. I guess I'd just like any advice at all on how
could do this. Thanks so much for any replies :)

Case
