I am an iranian who have paid my landing fee for the whole family an
completed our file since May.2006, but Canadian embassy at Ankara ha
advised me via email that I should wait untill late summer or in th
fall to receive our medical forms; this happens while many fome
applicants would recive their medical forms right at the interview tim
rather than waiting so long!!, Meantime, I passed my interview o
Mar.2006 , can anyone share his/her experience or tell me why is s
long delay for applicants like us ?  I sthis heppening at Ankara or i
is the same elsewhere;  Is this for background criminal check or else?
Can I go to Ankara personally and collect the forms by myself ?  tks
alot..

They are doing you a favour by not issuing the medicals too early.
Background checks often take over one year to complete.

thanks alot Jim, but I did not get your point and wonder what kind o
favor  this can be which yeilds neither for me nor for the Grea
Canada, this is the question I once asked from the minister o
immigration Canada without reply, when I opend my file I was 35 year
of age old and will be 41 years old when I will receive my visa. I
which age someone is more active and energetic for the economy o
Canada ? 35 or 41 ? that is why more people tend to migrate t
Australia with nearly 1 year waiting for visa according to th
statistics in charts given here in this site. It is not onl
individualls interests which matter, but more important is the econom
of Canada "my would be homeland " which prevails. I am aware of th
volume of applications at different visa posts, but this can be solve
by training and employing greater number of visa officer to form som
swat teams. In general this seems rather a managarial deficiency.

"Facilitating the processing time of applications will bloom th
ecenomy of Canada more effectively ".

If you ake the medical exam too early in the process you run the risk of
having to repeat them later because the background  checks were not
completed within the validity of the medical results.

The issue that this applicant is upset about is the processing times.
In ten years they have increased by almost 500% when in 1996 80% of all
applicants from all visa posts completed their applications in 13
months. http://www.oag-bvg.gc.ca/domino/reports.nsf/html/0003xe06.html
Now 80% of all applicants have their applications completed in 63
Months!!!!!!!!!!!

They increased because Visa Post officers in 2000 claimed they were
overworked. See Auditor General report about the audit

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/times-int/02a-skilled-fed.html
IRPA 3 (1) (f) states the objectives of the Immigration act is prompt
processing. SIX YEARS is not what I would call prompt! I think all Visa
Officers should be forced to work unpaid overtime. Background checks in
2006 hi tech computer age should not take more then two weeks to
complete. If CSIS has to interview the client then that may take a
month or so longer. Canada should be ashamed to take processing fees
and force these applicants to wait for years.
