Hi,
I have a question about my status in Canada. I'm currently in Canada on
a student visa and my student permit will expire in about 6 months.
Well, next month I'll officially submit my PR application to Buffalo.
Once I apply for PR, would I need to maintain my status somehow after
my student permit expires? Or can I just stay in Canada and wait for a
decision?
Thanks in advance.
Alex.

Alex you need to be in status IF Buffalo RPC asks you to attend an
interview. WHY have you not sought out employment? If you find
employment in your field you can get a work permit outside of major
centres for two years.

Better yet if you get employment in a province that has a PNP program
you can get Landed status in 7 months whey oh why do you want to submit
a Federal SW application and wait for at least two years?????

No, you cannot just stay in Canada. You need to leave Canada
when your status expire. PR application will give no right to
any status until the PR visa is granted.

AFAIK your application in Buffalo will be keep processed, but
you may need find a way to go to USA if the visa office require
interview.

AFAIK after you finish your study program, and can find related
work in 90 days, you can get a work permit without HRSDC
validation.

If that's the case, and if you are in a province with PNP
program (such as BC), you should think seriously about the
suggestion on PNP.
