Hi all

Will one police clearance certificate is sufficient if a person stayed
in different cities of a single country

Thanks

You can stay in as many cities as you want in one country. All you need
is a police certificate for that country. PCC's are country specific
rather than city specific. Reason being that, the police of every
state/country has a national database for collecting info so all your
data would be held under one name no matter the number of cities you
stayed/lived in.

Nice response but not 100% accurate, in certain processes Canada Immigration
wants the FBI certificate and a State certificate from applicants, they want
the FBI certificate to cover the totality of the stay in the US and they
want a State certificate for every state the person has lived in for more
than 6 months since turning 18. You have to check the individual process to
confirm the police requirements.

Well Rob thanks for the details.

I am living in pakistan since birth and lived in three different cities
of pakistan that are in the same province named Punjab. I have seen the
format of police report that is being issued by my currect city named
Lahore. It is written in the police report that:

The person so and so has been living in Lahore at Address (his current
residential address) from dd/mm/yyyy till to date and has no
criminal.....

Now would you please shed some light after analysing my situation

Thanks

I think ideally it is the police certificate from the country in which
you live in is required. I dont think different cities in the same
country. Only if you are staying at the current address fore more than
a year now. Also, different certificates are required only when you
stay at different countries not different cities.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, you only need one certificate for
one country. The exception would be the US but you can still provide
one certificate and if CIC wants one issued by every state an applicant
had stayed in, they would request it.

Only send the certificate you have been provided by the state police in
which ever country you resided in and you do not need one for city by
city in the same country. Unless of course, you have lived in different
countries for more than 6 months duration.

Thanks.

Immigration Manuals or Guides are not the 'substantive law'. Based on
the fact that CIC might attach varying weights to 'PCCs' issued by
various countries, I think I would have to secure a 'separate' police-clearance-
cerfiticate from all the different 'districts' where I have resided in
Pakistan for 6-months or more. Based on my knowledge of Pakistan, police-clearance-
cerfiticates are issued by the 'senior-most' police officer of the
'district': 'provincial' or 'national' registries or databases may or
may not be maintained. As such, the Visa Office shall be in a perfect
legal position to expect a separate police-clearance-certificate for
each 'relevant' district.

Please note that I think that 'expectations' would vary from country to
country---depending on the manner in which the 'registries and/or
databases' are maintained. As the Applicant, the 'onus' lies on us to
present 'conclusive' evidence of 'non-criminality'. I think this is all.

any suggestions and experiences would be welcomed
