Dear experts:

My child was born between the time we became PR and finally moved to
Canada. Now my wife, myself and kid are in Canada. I asked around and
went to a lawyer who applied for PR for my child under H & C category.
He told me this is the only category we can apply.

Now after a year, nothing has moved. I happened to call CIC and they
told me I am looking at atleast a one more year before anything happens
to the file.

I want to know:

1. Should I withdraw the application and sponsor my child(US Citizen)
at Buffalo?

2. Are there any repurcussions for withdrawing the PR file?

3. What is the best course...wait for H & C application to come to a
decision or withdraw and sposnor child from within Canada which should
again take around 9-12 months?

Thanks,
AD

Either the lawyer lied to you, or you did not tell the whole story.

Where do you live at this moment? Where is the child?

Yes, there are long long queue for H&C cases.

If you haven't file an application yet, sponsoring the child will the
recommended path.

At the least you need to explain clearly why you decide to withdraw. If
you not careful, CIC may think you lied before.

Who said it takes 9-12 months? Sponsoring a child should be very quick
since there is no security and background check required.

I recommend you to get better professional help, not lawyer, but good
and competent immigration consultant. It will be much better than a
lawyer.
