Dear Google Group,

This is my first message here.Hope that you may be able to help me with
this..

I'm an Indian citizen, right now in US on an H4 visa.My husband is an
H1B visa holder. He's got his Canadian PR card earlier this year and
we're planning to move to Canada by march next year.

I have visitor visa,multiple entry to Canada,ending feb 22nd 2007.We
may be going to Canada around new year time for a week or so.This will
be my first visit to canada n we're expecting that at the port of
entry, the officials may stamp visitor visa for 6 months period for
me,ie till june 2007.(that is an assumption).

In that case, can I travel to canada after feb and before june?

I would be very grateful to receive responses

Thanks very much..

Did you marry him before or after he was landed in Canada for permanent
residence?

Dear Google Group,

I would like to clear up things,in case my question wasnt very clear.

I am in canada right now on a visitor visa.At the border, the official
stamped the date we entered Canada, without giving a date as to how long
the visa is valid. The visitor visa stamped at canadian consulate is
till feb 2007.

I was under the impression that at the port of entry, they stamp visitor
visa for 6 months. But in my case, only the date of entry into canada was
stamped.

My question is-Is the visitor visa valid till feb 2007 or is it till
six months from the date of first entry to canada?

My husband is a PR,I am not..He got his PR before he got married to me.

I would be very glad to hear from the group..

Once again,thanks so much

Deepa

Your stay is valid for 6 months from the date of entry.  Your husband should
set about sponsoring you right away if you iuntend to remain in Canada.  You
should seek an extension of your status at the same time or 6 weeks before
the 6 mnths is up.

Dear Google Group,

Thanks so much for the response..

We're back in US now after spending Christmas vacation in canada.

We plan to move to canada by end of Jan.My husband is planning to
sponsor for my PR application from within canada right away and we're
planning to apply for work authorisation too at the same time.

We expect to receive the Approval in Principle by April end along with
the work authorisation letter. We would be applying for the extension of
my stay atleast 2 months before the 6 months period runs out.

My question now is:-

-Am I allowed to leave canada for US after receiving the A in P(to
appear for an exam)?

-Will I be able to re-enter canada with the Approval in Principle(I am
an Indian citizen,in US now on an H4 visa)?

-Or will I need to stamp another visitor visa to canada on my passport?

-Will leaving canada affect the process of sponsoring for PR in canada?

Once again,thank you so much..

Deepa
