My case is as follows:

I am a canadian landed immigrant currently working in Detroit , USA. I
plan to resume my residency and have got married. My wife has a visitor
visa for canada. Will it be a problem if both of us want to cross the
border and come to canada toghther to start staying togther?  I plan to
file her canadian residency when she is with me. Is this feasible or
has some loopholes? Please advice.

Any information will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi,

I am not sure whether or not there is any problem if you and your wife
enter Canada together.

Regarding sponsoring your wife from within Canada,
The only drawback to that is that it will take longer than applying
from outside of Canada. The rationale behind the schedule is that
immigration gives couples that are away from each other priority over
the ones that are together.

I sponsored my wife from within Canada (Toronto, Ontario) and our case
took about a year (13 months) from the date Immigration received the
file until my wife became a Landed Immigrant; however, the schedules
are different depending on where you live depending on the local
processing center's work load.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions.

Regards,
Shahab
P.S. please note that I am not an Immigration lawyer so what I said
above is solely based on my unique case so the things can be different
for different people.
