New Delhi PR application for parents

My sponsorship application for my parents was approved in Jan 07, and
the PR application submitted to the New Delhi office during the first
week of Mar 07. We have yet to hear anything (including
acknowledgement of the application).

Is this common? How long does it typically take for the
acknowledgement to be mailed? The site says 3 months.

If you check out she CIC's website you will find a listing of processing
times for the various case types. Your parents are in for a longish wait of
perhaps 3 years or so for the processing of their case. Sad but true in
these ungenerous times at CIC.

I realize the overall processing time is about 3 years. But isn't an
acknowledgement letter mailed in a few months?

Not really an acknowledgement, simply a form letter confirming that the
process for parents is very lengthy, no file number or other reference for
at least 12-18 months when the application is reviewed by an officer in
Mississauga.

Just to be clear - my sponsorship application has been approved. We've
submitted the PR application to New Delhi.
