Hi all,

Today I went down to the Canadian Immigration Centre in London, UK to
get the ball rolling with me and my fiancee's future emigration to
Canada.

What a task, had to wait in a queue then got herded in and had to pass
thru security and then finally went upstairs to meet the lady at the
counter.

She told me as I was applying for a Skilled Worker VISA I couldn't do
it directly at the office and had to use the drop box below or post it
to the Canadian Embassy along with a Bankers Draft of $550 canadian
dollars (which is on the way from my bank).

The process can take 4 years but if you've got sponsorship from a
particular province it can reduce to 1, the form basically starts your
application for residency and the more you can fill in the better.

Once it's submitted, they'll look at your application after a month
and setup a file for you.

...now I've filled in the form and i've got a query, because the plan
is for me to go over first, setup things and then my fiancee to arrive
later, do I fill in the third page detailing who is coming with me or
not?

...she won't be immediately but later on,

what should I do?

also with regards to fees, $550 is ok for one person applying but will
i need to send more even if my fiancee isn't coming with me right
away.

confused how to proceed.

greatful for your help?

John.

You will need to pay the fee's for each applicant at time of submission,
landing fee's can be paid later.  You could add her later, but as fee's are
more likely to go up not down, I would add her now.

It gives more creditabilty to your long term relationship, simplifies
paperwork hassles\issues further down the road & then just advise\update them
of your marriage details as & when.

She wouldn't need to accompany you initially once the visa is granted but
would have to follow the two out of five year residency requirement, though I
really don't see why she shouldn't unless children are involved (along with
more fee's & forms).

I know four years is a long wait, use the time wisely to compile the
paperwork as early as possible, that they will require.  Especially when it
comes to things like references companies do go under, merge & records get
lost as a result (I spent a year chasing companies for references etc before
I was able to submit my application under the old scheme) & also start saving
for the settlement funds for the both of you.

Just my twopennyworth.

All the best

Rass
