For applying the Cdn landed immigrant status, can I marry my
girlfriend (who I lived with for past 6 months in Europe & earlier 12
months in Canada) this April by getting a marriage licence, and then
she will return to Europe to finishe her master degree until July this
year?
A couple of post below this one, I received the answer below appearing
to dispute getting a marriage licence may not be enough to constitute
"marriage" for the her immigration application? \what other proof of
marriage do we need, in addition to the marriage licence?
> b) If not, is getting a marriage licence this April the easier way to
> apply the land immigrant status?
ANSWER:
Marriage license is nice, but you have to be married.

It means not only that you have to get the license, but you have to use it
and get married. Understand?

Please explain exactly what did you mean by "marriage licence".
In Canada marriage licence means "permit to get married" which
people acquire BEFORE getting married.
You need to actually get married, i.e. go through marriage
ceremony / wedding where an officiant / celebrant marry you.
Then you should get a marriage certificate to prove that. In
some cases CIC also asked for pictures from the ceremony.
