Hello everybody

I did my medical exam for the immigration to canada in last december
07. now i am about to get married a girl who is international student
in canada under stdy permit. Do you know how long do I have time to do
the marriage register document before I receive the landing document.
Can I ask the immigration office to pause sending my landing documents
until I get married and send them my spouse documents for take her
permanent residency along with me?

Thanks
Reza

Let me clarify things a little bit more.

In the situation I am in and probabely I am about to receive landing
documents which one of the following two things is the quickest for my
fiancee's application to PR?

1) I get married before I receive the landing documents and then I
inform them of the marriage documents?

2) I wait until I do landing and then I get married  before she start
filing her application?

I appreciate your answer

Thanks Jim for the quick response. But I am confused now. You are
saying that I am not allowed to change my marital situation before I
recive my landing documents?

Other question is that if (2) is the only option, will there be any
processing time difference between if she applies as married person or
as single?

Thanks

If you marry then you must return the landing documents unused and add your
wife to your application.  If you are not in a hurry to settle in Canada
then that would be a good option.  What you cannot do is land in Canada with
your visa (issued to you as a "single" person) if you have married in the
meantime.
For option 2. the only reasonable choice is for you to sponsor her but that
would require you to settle in Canada first.

If you become a L.I. before your marriage, you can sponsor her from within
Canada after your marriage.

If you marry before becoming a L.I.  you have to include her in your
application and your landing will be delayed until she meets all
requirements.
