Since one year, I have been driving my sister's car. Now, I want to
import this to Canada from USA. Actually, I have included this vehilce
as well as its VIN in the Goods Declaration form at the time of
landing last month. But the problem is that the vehicle is not in my
name yet; and my sister will be transferring it  (title) in my name
next week. Do I need to pay tax as I am planning to drive this car to
Canada after few months?

Moreover, will be in any trouble based on the information above
(declaring car before getting title in my name)? Any solutions besides
selling this car?

Also, what are the options to exempt tax on it? Should I get it as a
gift or purchase from my sister?

Does the policy of six months has to be met for the car in order to
exempt taxes?

Thanks.

hey there. i think you may need to refer your answer to the register of
imported vehicles. here's their website, www.riv.ca. the 800 should be on the
website if you want to call them. take care and good luck.
