Hello everyone,

My wife has been called for an interview at Delhi embassy in May. In
the letter it is stated that if the sponsor (myself) is in India to
bring him along to the interview but if he is in Canada, to ask him
to
be prepared for a phone interview on the same day and time.
I am right now in Canada and my question is, would it be better if I
travel to India and go with my wife for the interview of is it ok to
stay here in Canada and do it over the phone. The second question is
does anyone know what the process is if both husband and wife are
physically present at the interview in Delhi - are they both
interviewed together or seperately and what can be expected?
Thanks in advance to anyone with some feedback.

The reason for the interview is probably to assess the sincerity of the two
parties to your marriage.  If you are able to go to India that would seem to
imply sincerity so long as you are able to do so.  I have no idea how they
will carry out the interview but I would try to attend with together my wife
if I were you.  Ask yourself what reason they may have to doubt your
marriage.  Did you follow the entire Hindu ritual forms?
Good luck,

I completely concur with Jim's advice here.

1. If you can go - GO!!  I have had clients not go, only to sit by the
phone never to be called.
They are looking for the genuineness of the relationship. Going there
to be with your wife at a challenging time for her shows that you are
deeply committed.

2. Jim's point about Hindu Marriage is very important.  One of the
biggest problems in spousal cases through Delhi is when the visa
officer perceives that part of the rites were not properly completed.
Honestly assess your ceremony against all the rites and traditions of
Hindu marriage. If you changed it or left something out be prepared to
provide an logical explanation.

Good Luck!
