1. No, your US license will be exchanged and returned to your state DMV.
2. Get a letter from the Insurance company stating how long you have been
insured and the number of claim free years. Check the format of the letter
from the Insurance companies in you destination province, ICBC is quite
specific.

If exporting your USA car you also need to advise the US Border service in
advance. Check their website for details. And, US cars may need minor
modifications for licensing in Canada.

Thanks PMM and Jim for your information. I will collect some more
details from riv web site. By the way how would Canadian driving
Center know, How long I have been driving in US? As they require more
than 2 years of driving experience for reciprocal full license. In
fact, it's my 4th year,,, and I renewed my DL five months ago, Dl
does not disclose when it was originally issued for the first time.
Thanks once again for your quick inputs.

You need to get "driving abstract" from your DMV. You will also
need this for insurance purposes.

You need to get "Driver Abstract", i.e. your driving record.

I assume you fully own your car, no lien, right?
First check RIV at http://www.riv.ca/
Most importantly there is a list of cars can be imported to
Canada, and what potential modification need to be done to that
car.
If your specific model and year is not in the list, most likely
you cannot import the car to Canada.

Yes, get letter of your insurance and claim history, if possible
to 6 - 7 years back.
> so that I don't have to pay higher car insurance rate
AFAIK unless you move to a city / town in Canada significantly
smaller that the one you live in USA, then you definitely will
pay higher car insurance rate. A place in Canada will have
higher car insurance rate than comparable place in USA.
