Hi all,

I attended an interview on thursday for in-canada PR under the spousal class
(common-law). I got a letter today (Monday) saying that I meet elegibility
requirements, along with a second letter stating that my gf is approved to
sponsor me. It says I can apply for a work or study permit if I don't
already have one, so does that mean I have approval in priciple ?  The
letter doesn't use that term anywhere and just says work permit, not open
work permit.

If this is AIP do I need anything to else to apply for OHIP, SIN, and Open
Work Permit ? Also, it says a final decision won't be made until medical
results and background checks are passed... but I sent both of these in with
my application.. (official recipt stating I completed medicals, and a police
certificate from the Australian Federal Police)...  are they likely to make
me re-do the medicals ? (they didn't send any forms or ask for anything
else)

Yes! That phrase is specific for AIP letter: you now have first
stage of approval.

Yes! That's how it is.

> do I need anything to else to apply for OHIP,

You need to call CIC to get them send you medical approval
letter. You need it to apply for OHIP.

> SIN, and Open Work Permit ?

You applied to change your status to "work permit". Use this
package:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visitor.asp
(include copy of the AIP letter as eligibility proof)

After you get your work permit, then you can apply for SIN.

Standard statement for medical. Background security check is not
limited to police certificate, Canada will use intelligence
services to do deeper check.

> are they likely to make me re-do the medicals ?

Only if the previous one close to expiration (1 year after check
up) and your case does not seem to close to completion.
