Thanks for the information on my previous post.

What is the difference between TRV and Visitor's Visa? I, a Canadian
Citizen, plan to bring my future wife (to get married soon) to Canada
from Nepal. Since the standard sponsor process takes sometime, I plan
to apply for TRV or VV, whichever is more suitable for our case.

Would travelling to New Delhi together with all the required documents
be helpful? Is it possible to talk to immigration officers and find
out which visa is more suitable for us?

thanks for the info,
raj

1.  A TRV (Temporary Resident Visa) is the official name of a visitor visa.
2.  New Delhi only accepts TRV applications in person from 11-12 Monday to
Thursday, it is unlikely that you would see an officer.
3.  New Delhi suggests that Visitor Visa applicants from Nepal apply through
VFS office in Nepal, same processing time.

4.  The chances of your wife getting a TRV are pretty close to nil, as it
her intention to reside permanently in Canada.

What you called visitor visa, is actually Temporary Resident
Visa (TRV) in Canada Immigration term. Canada immigration in
principle only have one kind of visa for all temporary residence
purpose, either visiting, studying, or working, which is called
Temporary Resident Visa (TRV). Even though the TRV you got for
working will have a sign for working on it, you can actually use
it to visit Canada, conversely if you have a TRV for visiting,
when you get work permit approval, you can use the TRV to enter
Canada as worker, no need to get new visa.

In short: they are the same thing.

It is possible if she come, the officer decide to interview her
instead of reject the TRV application outright. So it can be
helpful that way. Remember to get TRV as visitor, one need to
prove that she is genuine visitor, i.e. she will come to Canada
to visit only and have no intention nor likeliness to stay.
There is a possible exemption, so called dual intent, if
although she may try to stay, she can prove that she will leave
Canada if she cannot manage to stay legally.

TRV is the new term for what we used to VVs - a visitor visa is now called a
temporary residence visa.
