Greetings,
My wife has been asked to attend a hearing with a citizenship judge.
Following are some brief case facts and timelines -
- We landed in Canada as PR in spring 2004
- Applied for citizenship in summer 2007 (attached the residency
calculator too)
- Case is being processed in Mississauga, ON center
- During all this time, she has made only one trip abroad (down to the
US for 1 week only back in 2004).
- I have made about 4 trips for work
- We have been residing in Canada full time during this time
- Wrote the citizenship test in Oct 2007
I have the following questions -
- What could have trigerred the interview?
She has been in Canada all this time (except for that 1 week trip)
And it is only her who has been called, not me.
Is it possible that she didn't pass the test?
The CIC call center won't tell us anything, saying they have no
information.
Are there CAIPS notes for citizenship applications?
Would those have any clues?
Any other idea?
- What to expect in the interview?
We have been asked to bring our passports and PR cards - nothing else.
Is that enough or should we take other documents like utility bills,
proof of address, etc?
- Would I be allowed to go in with her (to help answer any residency
related questions) or is that not allowed?
I have heard several horror stories of citizenship judge interviews
and am quite nervous.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Anyone has any ideas or response?
Mr. Miller, PMM, any other regulars?
Thanks

From your description the only thing seems to be that this may be a routine
check of the application for quality control purposes.

She probally didnt pass thats what happend to me but when I called cic
center and they told me I dont know why they wouldnt tell you but i
just went to the interview and my advice is to study for the test the
judge will ask several questions about canada and the judge i Got
wasnt all that nice so just be prepared for the test and you will do
fine And I think you are allowed to go with her I saw other people
with there family memebers. Hope this has helped the only thing I was
upset was she didnt let me know if i had passed after the interview so
know i have to wait for a letter in the mail. but good luck and hope
this has helped.
