Hi Jim,
I have been reading this group for a while and noticed the invaluable
advice that you always give.  I was wondering if you could give me
some too.

My brother's girlfriend in a Tanzanian citizen currently in the US on
a work permit.  My brother is a Canadian citizen.  Last August she
applied to canada (Skilled worker).  She sent in her medicals In early
May. My brother and her are getting very anxious about when the
process will be complete, as they would like to get married soon.  In
your opinion does it make sense to get married and change her
application to a spousal one?  In your opinion based on the elapsed
time, which would get her to Canada faster?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

thanks
Salima

It seems that the application is going well and should be finalized shortly.
It is not really possible to change categories so a completely new
application would be required that would almost certainly delay things.  I
suggest they get married as planned and simply update the existing
application being sure to enclose the marriage certificate and photos
showing the wedding reception with mom and dad present if at all possible.
