Hi,

I'm a Sri Lankan citizen currently under F1 (student) visa in USA
doing my 2 year practical training. I'm planning to apply for PR
(under-skilled worker) visa.
Since I have US visa till 2012 I can apply from Buffalo, NY which is
faster than applying from SL. But then found out that when you are
applying through Buffalo you have to go through the regular process &
hence have to show the required funds ($10k - which I don't have now)
and submit other documents like Police report, IELTS scores, etc..
with the application. Can someone please guide me whether this is a
must or are there any workarounds for this?

Also if I'm showing my bank statements- I can ask for money from
someone & get a statement with the required amount. But is there any
time-frame that required amount of money should be in the account?

Thanks,
Chamila

All those things are requirements so you cannot avoid them..CIC is aware of
the old trick of borrowing money to deposit and getting a bank letter
showing the big amount which later vanishes so hopefully someone will
actually give you the correct amount.
