HI,
I and my wife recently got Canadian permanent residency. I wants to
ask about my sister who is 29 years old, unmarried and  financially
depending on me. She is residing in US and on F1 status and living
with my parents who cannot sport her financially, as they are retired
from their jobs and don't have enough means to financially sport her.
I wants to sponsor her so she can complete her studies and become
totally independent. My question is can i sponsor her any way ? I will
appreciate the reply.
Thanks

First, the bad news: there is no federal PR application category
that will allow you to sponsor based on your sibling
relationship.

However, there are several options:

- You may be able to sponsor your parents, and if it can be
proven that your sister has always been dependent (e.g. always
full time student) since before 22 years old, then your sister
can be included in your parents PR application. Keep in mind
that you need to fulfill all condition of sponsoring your
parents & sister and they need to actually land in Canada.

- Some provinces (e.g. Manitoba, definitely not Ontario or
Quebec) have provincial nominee program which allow its
residents to sponsor sibling. Maybe you live in those provinces
or willing to move there.

- As you say you want to support her education I assume she want
to continue her education in Canada. You can sponsor her as
foreign student in Canada. Then as she finish her education and
find a job, she can easily apply PR on herself. Again this is
better to be done in a province with good provincial nominee
program.

Note that - if successful - sponsorship carry significant
obligation to support the sponsored (e.g. for parents it is 10
years), and the obligation is unconditional: e.g. your sister
may burn your house or embarrass you in public media, but you
will still have to support her.
