Dear experts,

I am a Canadian citizen, now a days living outside with my family in
Pakistan. I have sponsored my spouse and children some where in the
end of Feb,2008. Got a letter in the first week of April,2008 from
Mississauga office saying that we have approved/sent your application
to Islamabad office. Then We got a letter from Islamabad office in the
first week of May that we have started processing your application.

Can any one tell me(roughly) when should we expect to have the visas
in our hands. I called the office but they refuse to tell me any thing
on phone. I also sent an email from within their website but got no
response. Should I send them an email/fax/letter to request about the
status and also to expedite our case as soon as they can giving them
some reasons?

Thanxand regards

Spousal applications have all of the documentation and medicals done when
they are submitted.  Thus there is little reason for the visa office to
contact you or your spouse.  According to the CIC the New Delhi office
completes some 80% of such cases 6 months or so from the date they receive
the file.  You should be hearing from them soon.  There was little use in
contacting them before then.  It is obvious too that about 20% of their
cases are not completed within 6 months.  Those will be cases where there
are questions about the marriage or medical or security problems.

Jim Thanx a lot but I would like to add that my file is not in New
Delhi office, its in Islamabad office. The computer generated letter
sent to me by Islamabad office showed that it might take 6 months, but
when I called them a guy told me that we can't give out information
but your case might take 10 to 12 months.

Stephan Paul, thanx to your reply. I already saw that table for the
time line. Sorry to say that its really confusing 30% in 6 months, 50%
in 7 months......etc etc I dont know where should I put myself. How
ever my mind is clear now that I should not contact them as its
useless according to your advise.

Regards

Suplimentary questions plz. 1) Can I apply for OSAP after coming back
to Canada, becuase some one told me that you have signed an agreement
not to take any finanacial help etc etc.

2) My wife's father died. Should I inform the office or not. By
informaing them will it slower or faster the process?

Dear Experts,   Yesterday my spouse received a letter from the
Islamabad office. They wrote her that your sponsor do not meet the
requirment of Artical 130(2) of the immigration act. Your spouse must
live in Canada at the time he was sponsoring you or he must prove that
he has plans to permanatly settle in Canada. The Visa offer wrote that
he is not satisfied. He demanded for detailed plans settlement in
Canada.

I am really upset as I wa expecting Visas in near future. Please
advise me what can be a solid proof to show them. If I Send them an
offer letter for job as well as a lease/rental agreement for my stay
in canada. will it be ok? Secondly will it help me if i tell them that
I may take admission in the university and study? I really really wana
go and live permanantly in Canada along with my children. But I dont
know how to prove it to them. Please advise.

Very unlikely you can get your case expedited. Probably the only
way to get it is to have the minister of citizenship and
immigration herself write a specific instruction to expedite /
prioritize your case.

If your case missed the normal processing time by a couple of
months, you may want to get the immigration records of your case
by getting CAIPS record through Access to Information or Private
Information request. This will reveal the actual visa office
opinion about your case.
