Thanks a lot for your quick response. I have a question though. When
you say they have to sponsor, do you mean they have to file a work
permit in Canadian Immigrations on behalf of me or can I do it by my
self? Thanks in advance.

Normally, for you to get work permit, your future employer (not
you) need to have HRSDC confirmation (LMO) by proving that no
Canadian nor PR can fill the position (similar to LC for US
green card).
There are few exceptions to this rule, one of them for US
citizens getting professionals position, which is probably why
this particular position is open to US applicants, although in
this case the exception does not apply to you.
