Dear Experts:
I am an I.T Professional and want to apply for Permanent Residence (PR)
under Simplified Application Process. I have been on two jobs so far -- the
first one was "Network System Engineer" (worked for 4 years) and the second
one, my current job, is "BSS Support Engineer (GSM/WIMAX)". Both of these
jobs fall under the same NOC CODE which is Category # 2147 (Computer
Engineers - Except Software Engineers and Designers).
My question is, if my both jobs/work experience fall under the same NOC code
but have different work nature and responsibilities as I have with these two
jobs of mine -- would I still be getting points for 4+ years for my work
experience? (as I believe all of your work experience should have same NOC
code in order to claim for points on them).
Would really appreciate, if anyone out there can guide me on it.
Regards,
Asad

You need to look at the description of main duties and
responsibilities and make sure that you have done that work. Work
experience will count only if you can establish that point.

Dear Jim:
Thanks for your reply. Well both of my work titles/experiences are listed on
this NOC code 2147 under the example of the titles and I can match the job
responsibilities too. The point is, this NOC code is basically comprised of
two main categories "Computer Networks" and "Wireless Telecommunications".
Both of them come under what you called I.T, but have different job
responsibilities.
So according to you, as long as Computer Networks and Wireless Telecom
appear under same NOC code, however they have different job
responsibilities, they will be counted towards my experience!?!?
thanks
Asad

No, AFAIK your believe is wrong. The work experiences can be in
various NOC, as long as they are in skill level A, B, or 0, they
will be counted. So you can have 2 years in one NOC and 2 years
in other NOC, that counts for 4 years.
