Hi:
I am an Indian national currently working in the UAE. I am landing
Canada on 3 Nov 2003 on a valid immigrant visa. I wish to travel to
the USA on 4 Nov 2003 to write the CPA examination and return to
Canada on 7 Nov 2003. I have a valid visit visa to USA.
My immigrant visa to Canada expires 14 Nov 2003. But, on the visa
(Category IM-1), it shows the number of entries permitted as one.
Also I understand that I will get my Canadian permanent residence card
only two or three months after landing Canada. Under the
circumstances, can I land Canada on 3 Nov 2003 and go to the USA on 4
Nov 2003 to write the CPA exam and return to Canada on 7 Nov 2003?
Once I land Canada, how long does it take to get my IMM 1000 document
as proof of permanent resident status? - I understand that I can
return to Canada if I can show the IMM 1000.

IMM 1000 doesn't exist anymore. Only those who were granted PR visas before
June 28 2002 have IMM 1000.
