Potential Problem with Inland Sponsorship

My wife has applied for inland sponsorship.  She had to return to her home
country of Brasil and returned back to Canada with no problems however they
did not stamp her passport or issue her a different certificate(I can't
remember the name but there was a certificate with an expiry date that they
stapled into the passport when she first arrived).  What do we do now?  I
know that she must keep her legal status in Canada.  Do we apply for a
Extention as if she hasn't left the country?  Or does she has some automatic
statis from the time she re-entered Canada(If so, how do we prove this
status).  Any help would be much appreciated.

She was re-admitted to Canada within the validity of her original admission
(visitor record when she first arrived) - thus she needs to apply for
extension at least 5 or so weeks before that original admission expires.
