Are there any recomended shipping companies' or is it cheaper to pay
(for example to Continental Airlines) £ 60 per extra 32Kg Suitcase?
Any ideas?
Thanks

Check the USA forum here at BE; this has come up before.
For us, we were stringent with the packing. We sent a couple/three small
boxes ahead by regular mail and maintained our suitcase limit.
It all depends on what you want to bring over. Do know that your luggage
will be opened and searched (often out of your sight) by TSA employees
once inside the US (if connecting from your POE) and their treatment of
your fragiles may be less than gentle. Our suitcases were savaged in
Minneapolis, and the Martin guitar was nearly a write-off.

Depends how much you have. I paid for an extra suitcase but also got
around 7 boxes of stuff like CDs etc shipped via UPS for around £250.

I used excess-baggage.com shipped 5 boxes totalling 132kgs from uk to
ohio door to door costing about £500 they were good hand holding thru
whole process including paperwork and everything arrived safely on time
(about 2 weeks air freight)
as a hint if you have a lot of cds to ship get some vinyl slips and
repack em discarding the hard plastic shells it reduces the eight by
about one third!

Have you just purchased a one way ticket, and not a cheaper return with the
intention of throwing away the return part.
If the former ask the airline if they allow extra baggage for those
emigrating, some do allow and extra case some don't.
