On Friday (12/10/04) we received a letter from Sacramento letting us
know they had received my husband's AOS/EAD package & money order
payments and he had passed the initial screening phase.  They included a
white cash register type receipt showing his A #, Name, Filing Fees
received and included something that looks like SAC-CS #xxxxx.

Should we be waiting for another letter that gives him an actual
assigned case number so we can track status similar to they way we did
when we first went through the service center for fiance visa?

At what point do we begin counting 91 days???
The package was hand delivered to Sacramento back on November 5th; but,
the receipt shows 12/08/2004.

Thank you in advance.

They should send you a NOA (Notice of Action) that states they are
processing your case. I counted the 90 days from the date that was
on the NOA.

Thank you.  I hope the NOA is soon...

some have used the date received; others the date on the register
receipt.  You do not have to wait for the NOA (if you get one from MSC
that is) to start your counting.

It would be nice if the NOA is close to the receipt date.  We'll
probably inquire at 91 days using the receipt date and if need be use 91
days from NOA date.

Thank you

I've heard that places that take walk-in submissions don't mail out an
NOA later....that the white receipt is the only one you'll get.  A
friend of mine did walk-in at Fresno office, and never received NOAs.

Best Wishes,

Hello, I filed with Sacramento too. Just hang on to the documents you
received, they serve as the Notice of Receipt. I don't think they do the
"90 days"-- i.e. you cant track your status. The next document I
received from them was the notice to pic up Advanced Parole, then the
one for fingerprinting. The latest one I got is the schedule for AOS
interview :D. Sacramento works pretty fast, my documents were returned
twice and finally I got my notice of receipt in August, and by January
I'm having the interview :D good luck!

i am in sac too!!  they returned my I-485 twice!!!  and they won't tell
me exactly why.  I have an appt today and I am very
frustrated....especially now reading that I have been submitting this
since Begin of Sept. and still no acknowledgment.  I am going to give
them an ear full today.  My husband can't work, drive or anything.  I
have called the 800 number a million times and every time i get a
different answer about what to submit.
Anyway, just not sure what i am doing wrong.  I hope to find out today.

we need that travel doc asap!!!
anyone know how long it will take to get that once they accept our
app??
thanks everyone!
frustrated!!
