translating relationship evidence

Hi Everyone!

I'm a new guy here, and at the very beginning, trying to get everything
together for my I-129f petition.  I need to provide evidence of my
relationship with my fiance.  The application isn't specific on what
exactly is required, though I understand from reading things here and
there that usually it means (in addition to photos, copies of
plane-tickets, etc...) that I need to provide some copies of
correspondance (letters, email, etc...).  This isn't a problem, except
all of our correspondance is in Russian.  Will it matter if I just
submit photocopies of the letters as they are? or should I have my
fiance get everything translated (adding lots of headache,
embarrassment, and cost).  I actually have another question too, but
I'm putting it in a separate post.

Thanks,

Chris

If I'm not mistaken, and at this point in the process, you need only
provide evidence that you have met in person in the immediate 2 years
prior to filing.

You aren't obligated to provide copies of correspondence, but if you
will sleep better at night as a result, go ahead and have a select few
translated - ones that won't embarrass either of you! :)  If it's going
to be a major headache, photos and airline stubs usually suffice.

Hi,
Ian is correct.  You do not have to prove that you have a relationship
worthy of a I-129F; simply that you have met in person in the two years
prior to filing the petition.  If you have passport stamps, airline
ticket stubs, travel agency itinerary---anything tangible that proves
you were in the same place at the same time.  I would also certainly
include photos of the two of you together.  Good luck.

I just included a few photos of the two of us and photcopies of a few
airline tickets showing that we had visited each other (for example when
I flew to Atlanta I just highlighted the part that showed I was flying
to Atlanta, and for Patrick I highlighted the part that showed he was
coming to London). That seemed to be sufficient for them.

Don't forget your letter of intent (or whatever it's called). :)

Hi Chris,

The only translated item I had to provide with my I-129F submission was
my fiance's statement of intent, which he had written in Farsi.  You
don't HAVE to include evidence of a relationship at this point, but my
attorney at the time suggested I include some phone bills and/or
correspondence to be on the safe side.  That said, I did include some
phone bills and just one or two notes we had written each other by hand
(we didn't have many of those anyway).  I translated the notes myself,
nothing major, I just wrote below the Farsi script what it said in
English.  To be honest, I don't even know if she included all that in my
I-129F submission...she collected it from me, but I never saw the
complete package she sent.

Best Wishes,
Rene
p.s. - note to self: call lawyer to get files in my possesion. :)

We included letters of intent, one from each of us, and a copy of one
air plane ticket.
That's it.
