Hello everyone,
I received this email today regarding the processing of my I-485
"The interview scheduled in this case has been canceled. You will be
notified if the interview is rescheduled."
I am totally freaking out because I do not know if our petition is going
to be denied. My I-130 has not been approved yet though, is that why the
I-485 was cancelled???
Any advice and karma will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Laura,
I've seen this happen on the forum a few times. It doesn't mean a
denial. It could be as simple as the person scheduled to do your
interview won't be in that day, and his/her appointments need to be
changed. Don't stress, just wait for the next appointment letter. :)
Best Wishes,
Rene

Thank you Rene,
I have not received any letter though. It was jus an email. I don't know
if I shouldn't worry because my I-130 has not been approved yet. But I
cannot imagine that they were going to schedule an appointment without
the petition for alien relative being approved.
I appreciate you answer. Have a great easter!

In cases like yours where the I-130 and I-485 were filed together, they
adjudicate them the same day at the same interview

Hi -- I just updated my fingerprints (reaching the 15 month mark and AOS
still pending). Later that day I checked status on the uscis website
and got your exact same message.
I freaked because I thought I (or my attorney) had missed an appointment
letter or notification -- which we hadn't.
I did an INFOPASS appt at the NYC district office -- the immigration
officer looked at my case and said 'no appointment has been made, and no
appointment had been cancelled' -- the last transaction on file was the
fingerprint update.
The officer did not have any explanation for the cryptic website update.
She said nothing to worry abt and case is proceeding as normal. I asked
if there was any reason for concern and she said no.
So, right back at square one: waiting. (I understand 25-27 months.
ugh!). Filed i-485/i-130 in Sep 2003. So maybe in a few months...?
best of luck. if you dig and find something out, pls let me know.

This is exactly what happened to me. I went for my second fingerprint.
When I got back I check the ins website and the same message were
posted. I guess I shouldn't be worried after all.
Thanks for your post, feel a little at ease now.

NO, it doesnt mean denial,
they probably will re-schedule your interview very soon,
i had the same situation, after waiting for couple of weeks we wrote
letter to local USCIS office, in which we asked for explanation why our
interview has been cancelled, and then after couple days they called to
my wife's cellphone (we put number in our letter to them) and told her
that they reinstated our interview on the same date as it was scheduled.
so, maybe you do the same, never hurts to try.
good luck!

Did you just have your fingerprints taken -- 2nd set..?
I noticed your same message right around when they took prints. I got
your same message the day I had my 2nd set taken. The status then
changed a few days later when they verified that new fingerprints had
been received.

this does not look good in my opinion but if you are genuine and all
your legal paperwork is in order then I feel you will get a fair
hearing and if you meet al relevant criteria you will be approved .
Have faith in the Lord and you will be fine.

I've just had the same message for my daughter's AOS. Now I'm in a
panic!! We entered the US on January 26 2004 and have a notice date of
May 3rd 2004 (sent to Atlanta).
Both my application and my daughter's appication's were "touched" on
29th March and 30th March.
