AOS interview but no fingerprints

My husband's AOS interview is coming up (april 27) in Atlanta.  He did
not receive an appointment letter to get his biometrics-fingerprinting
done for his AOS.  Sooooo, I am expecting that he will not get approved
that day because he has not had his fingerprints done. (This is actually
OK with us because our interview is exactly 5 days before our 2 year
anniversary).

What should we expect after this?
I imagine they either schedule him for his fingerprints the day of the
interview or we have to wait for the appointment letter in the mail.

Once the fingerprinting is done and the results are back with the
Atlanta office:

How long we can expect to wait for the approval letter in Atlanta?

Also, once he gets approval letter, can we go to the Atlanta office and
ask for the stamp?

thanks for the input folks.

Hi,

I am still waiting for my AOS interview at Atlanta too (NOA date
1/06/04). But I had my biometrics-fingerprints done right after I got my
NOA (FEB 04).

Didnt your husband got a note in his NOA saying to make appointment for
them? or do the biometrics-fingerprints have certain expiration date
that he has to do them again?

Just curious to know if I will have to have mine again for the
interview.

Maybe you are confusing the fingerprints taken for the EAD. Read the
appointment letter they sent you when you had your biometrics done, see
if it states what the fingerprints are for (i.e 485 or EAD)
He had his fingerprints taken for his EAD in Nov 2004, but the letter he
received specifically states that those biometrics are in conjuction
with his Employement Authorization.  I have asked around to find out if
they are different and they are.  He was supposed to get an appointment
letter specifically for biometrics in conjunction with his AOS case, and
he has not received that appointment letter.
By the way, your NOA is Jan. 04.  Looks like you are about 6 months away
from your interview.  Be on the lookout.

Yes, I am hoping to get the interview soon, but not that soon, my
Second anniversary is in Oct 4. so I would be great to have the
interview after that day.

About the biometrics-fingerprints, both NOA's (EAD and AOS) had the same
note to request appointment, so I did double biometrics and
fingerprints, for EAD and AOS. They asked me for both NOA's in the ASC
office (or whatever is called the location in Buford)

Good luck in interview!!

I believe the difference between biometrics for AOS and biometrics for EAD
is that one is one finger only and the other is all ten fingers.  Not sure
which is which, though.

I received my EAD and AOS fingerprinting notice at the same time.

How long before your interview did you get the letter again?

Well, we received the fingerprint appointment last night.  We got our
interview letter last week.  From all the experiences I have read, you
typically get the fingerprint appointment first and then the interview
notice.  It was opposite for us.  WE got the interview appointment
letter first then last night, we got the fingerprint appointment.
The interview letter was mailed March 25 and the interview is set for
April 27.
So it looks like they give us a month's notice here in Atlanta.
Steffi, you guys are definitely next.  I remember your receipt date is
August or September 2003.  My husbands receipt date is July 27 2003.
So, they are definitely looking at cases filed in August probably
September.  When is your two year anniversary?  Hopefully you will get
your interview after that.  Can you believe we are 5 days short of our 2
year anniversary when we go to the interview?  UGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
We are hoping they will be nice, I'll keep you posted on how it turns
out. But seriously, at this point, we don't even care.  Even if we have
to file to remove conditions in 2 years, at least he can travel out of
the country and see his family.  Wish us luck!

Maybe you could try to reschedule the interview for a couple of weeks later.
I've heard that people have done it when they can't make the interview date
for some reason.

Our 2nd wedding anniversay is September 10th and our NOA date is October
23rd. At this point I'm definitely hoping to get my interview scheduled
after September 10th!!
So you finally got your fingerprint appointment letter though. That's
good. Maybe if you give them a puppy-dog face and nicely ask them not to
approve you until after your 2nd wedding anniversary they'll do it. I've
heard people say that the offier basically told them they were approved,
but they just wanted to go over the files again before giving the
definite approval stamp. So maybe your officer could look over your
files some mroe as well. ;)

We are going to try!

I am not good at making puppy-dog faces.  I was thinking about wearing a
short skirt but we may get a woman officer so that won't help us :)
I hope you don't get your interview till after 9/10 but I have a feeling
you will.  The only other thing, if you want to risk it, is re-
scheduling.  We thought about it, but we didn't want to mess with
anything that can delay or screw up his adjustment.

Hmm, yeah. I don't know. I think I'll make a new thread about it and see
if anyone rescheduled their appointment in order to get past the 2 year
anniversary...

Hi Steffi,

I don't recommend this!  I've read others' posts who had to reschedule
their AOS interview because of out of town travel, and it was a
nightmare to reschedule.  You can only reschedule by written letter,
well ahead of your interview date, and if USCIS does not receive that
letter at all, or doesn't receive it in time, they consider you a no-
show and close your case.  Then you have to petition to re-open it,
which is a hassle, too.

My advice is to let it happen when it's supposed to, and don't mess
around with the hassle that could come with rescheduling.  You also
need to show in your written letter that the reason you need to
reschedule is a valid reason (of course valid in USCIS eyes) - and
somehow I think just wanting to wait till after the 2-year mark won't
be acceptable to them. :)

Best Wishes,
Rene

Yup, I suspected that it would be a complication.  Thanks for the
advice.
I'll keep you posted on how the interview went.  Probably April 28!
Thanks everyone for all your advice and knowledge.
