I am sending in my renewal for EAD to the chicago lock box.
I am including the application(I-765), payment of $175.00, 2 color
passport photos, a copy of the current EAD and the original top portion
of the paper that the EAD was wrapped in. I also can put a cover letter
stating the contents into the package.

Do they take checks?
Do I make the check out to USCIS?
Do I write any specila info on the outside of the envelope (other than
the chicago lock box address)?
Is that all I need?

Thanks for any feedback, I'd like to get it in the mail tomorrow
if possible.

Hi Elizabeth,

My husband just got his EAD renewal from the Chicago lockbox method,
also.  We sent in exactly what you did, minus the top portion of the
paper the EAD was wrapped in.  You're the second person I've seen
mention that, and I have no idea what that is. LOL  Anyway, we didn't
have that, and he was approved with no problem.

Yes, they accept personal checks.
Yes, make it out to USCIS (I read somewhere recently to write out the
whole name, though...you might want to try doing that)
On the outside of the envelope, I put our return address, the Chicago
lockbox address, and in the bottom left corner I put "I-765 Application
for Employment Authorization Renewal Enclosed"
I think that's all you need!

My husband's took 8 weeks to process, but that was because we had to
wait a few weeks to do the biometrics.  If we hadn't waited that long,
processing would have been about 5 weeks.

Best Wishes!
Rene

Rene,
Hi, thanks so much...once again. By the way, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!! I
have a follow up question.  It seems from your reply that you need to
get fingerprints updated?  How? Before or after submitting the
application?  Thanks again!

Thank you for the anniversary congratulations!  It's a very special day
for us! :D

Yes, each time you renew the EAD, you'll go in and do biometrics again.
That's just the 1-digit fingerprint and picture, for the EAD card.  When
you get the NOA it will have the number to call to make the biometrics
appointment.

Did you do that the first time around?  Or was yours different?

Rene :)
