I run a yahoo group for uk/us couples. Currently we have been
discussing what happens when a uk/us couples moves abroad and then wants
to return for a visit with foreign spouse in tow and the benefits of
obtaining US citizenship for the UK spouse before doing so.
One US gentleman living in the UK with his UK wife became concerned
whether or not his wife would be turned away at the POE. I posted the
below. Did I give him correct information or am I way off base? If I
am mistaken, then I would like to pass on a more informed response
than my own.
Thanks.

You said it all, in my opinion. They are the rules of the VWP, and also
it is possible for the foreign spouse to get a grilling and/or denied.
Just like it's also possible that they won't have any problems at all.
Wouldn't change a thing, except for maybe putting some emphasis also on
the VWP rule of being able to show one has enough money on
them/accessable for the duration of the trip. In this case that might be
particularly helpful, as far as showing that not even the USC is
planning on working during this visit.
